I think that this blog was a good idea for this man to do. It shows people all of Boston, not just the main attractions downtown, or the ones you usually hear about.
I've been to most of these places before, or been around the area, and the pictures make them look really nicer than some of them are. This guy obviously wouldn't know this because he is not from here.
I think he picked good places to take pictures of though. I also think he took very good photography, at good angles and such. I love taking pictures, and photography in general, so I think this was an awesome idea.

I like the blogs that the man did about different parts of Boston. I think it was a nice idea. It lets people see the different neighborhoods.
I think that Dudley is not really a good neighborhood. A lot of violence goes on in Dudley. There's a lot of drug dealers. A lot of crackheads and drug addicts. And a lot of drunk fools. It's not really a safe place during the day. And it's especially not a safe place at night. But it's not that bad during the day.

I feel as though people should not be focus on just us young people only. There are older people out there in the world doing worst then what youngs do,like raping kids, killing people an hiding there bodies an stuff like that.
People be so focus on what young people do when sometimes the problem start with an elder and older person.
The article i read talking about how they want to search youngs homes for weapons, any weapons they find they will be in a program I just want to state you can not stop volience. It will be stop by one man standing and thats not going to happen no time soon. Young people are not the only ones getting targeted at.

I think this blog showed the good side of Boston and what its really about and not just the bad and violence and bad Boston is proceded to be.
It showed some good pics of the city like some of the curches, restaurants and squares.
So all together i think it was a good blog that had some good information.

This guy has some good work but im dissapointed that he didnt get my house. Also he couldve got more of hyde park like walcott cause there is a memorial there of an war battle.
Another place he could've gotten a picture of was the world famous icecream parlor/bowling alley Ron's Gourmet Icecream. They Have the 3'rd best icecream in the galaxy.
This guy took good pictures but missed the best parts of Hyde Park. One main part is Ron's Ice Cream and bowling alley. His ice cream is home made, and National Gegraphic rated it the third best in the world.
I have been too most of these places. His pictures show them very well.
I read the story about the frightened sophmores and freshman on the 23 bus. I ride the 23 every day and I have yet to see what they speak of...I'm sure there are violent people on the bus but I've never seen a person trying to sell drugs to other passengers or a big fight occur. There is always the risk of danger on every bus not just the 23.

The Photos that this man did on all around boston was very interesting. It made me think of some of the places I've went to and some of the places that i would like to visit.
Some of the pictures were vey nice like the boats they showed and and how they showed the animals in the franklin park zoo. That was very nice. I enjoyed looking at most of the photos.
-Regina
Well the photos that I have seen were very intersting and the person the take the photo is a good photographer.

I enjoyed looking at the views of boston thourgh others eyes...mainly because i've lived in many different parts of boston growing up and never really noticed how you can capture the beauty of the places you would probally think last to go site seeing. Its amazing how my thoughs on these towns were changed from just a simple glimps of a picture.

Hello,
I'd like to thank you all for taking the time to visit and review my blog. Your opinions are very interesting.
As time permits, I will revisit each neighborhood, throughout the year.
Many thanks for your kind words and appreciation.

I Think Its really sad That many Students At The english high school are failing half their classes. some teacher are really exhausted and over whelmed that this is happening. teachers are leaving their jobs because they cant take it anymore.
I think the police should'nt make the desicion about checking the homes of teenagers at risk of consealing a weapon in their homes it should be the parents decrestion whether or not they would welcome the police into their homes to check their child's room.
---->Nicole Brack<----
I think the idea of the "Safe Home" program for BPD to search all houses containing teens is completely unneccessary because if you're going to try and stop gun violence, you go after the suspects, not everybody in between. Parents are also in question, for this issue becuase parents should know the activity of their kids and shouldn't rely on the Police to find out whats right or wrong.

Reaction To Burning Mansions Article
The mansions that were burnt down was caused by ecoterrorist who believed that it was time for the world to start caring about global warming. Three mansions were burnt down and a fourth one almost got burnt. I do not fully believe in the people who did this but I also understand their point of view. They just want people to realize the effect of global warming and the only way they could have done this was by doing the EXTREME. I feel bad for the people who owned the mansions but at the same time action HAD to be taken.
Firefights were afraid to go inside the burning buildings because they thought that booby traps were inside. I do not believe that the ecoterrorist were trying to kill anyone but just wanted their voices to be heard. Sadly people have waited to long to take a stand and even though they did it in a bad way they got what they wanted...for the country to hear their opinions.
Love Always,
Kristie
the home burned down by the eco-terrorist contridicted themselves. how are you going to try to get a message out by protecting our enviorment if your burning down homes that are trying to promote good practices by using recycled materials.

I dont feel that it is fair for the police to invade a teenagers privacy. They should have the teen's constent not the parent. If i was a parent I would invade my child's privacy not let the police do it. It should b the parents buisness not the police.
I also think the article is lying about not aresting the teen or getting in trouble. That's all bull. If the police finds a gun I really dont think the teen will get off that easy. The child would obvousily get in trouble. Why would anybody be able to get away with gun. That's so stupid!
Also what happens if a child doesnt have a gun. He gets falsly accused. Imagine how hurt the teen will feel. I would be highly upset. They should consider teenagers feelings not the police's feelings.

Boston Police Safe Home Operation
I believe that the Boston Police safe home operation is a great operation. I feel that if someone has not done anything wrong then they simply have nothing to hide. I think that its great that the BPD is actually willing to take time from their busy scheduleto go into other people's houses and actually search for weapons with the parents permission.
I think that some parents dont know or dont realize that their children are getting involved with drugs, weapons, and other illegal activities because they work long hours, so by having the BPD taking their time and going to children suspected of having weapons will be a good idea. If something is found the parents will now know that the child is involved in illegal activity and then they can do whatever they think is necessary to get their child back on the right track.
One thing that i really like about this program is that if a weapon is found no charges will be brought on the child or anyone else. The police said that NO INFORMATION will go to the school officials, public housing authority, or too immigration. The other good thing about this program is that its completely voluntary. If the parents dont want the police to search their childs bedroom then the police simply won't.
In the end, would'nt you want to know if your child was hiding a gun.
The ecoterrorists burning the mansions in Seattle is not a good thing. The FBI inverstigates this as a crime. i think it is a crime. It's not a good way to show that its bad for the environment. There's a crime for standing up for your rights and then there's doing something illegal.
All the smoke gives carbon to the air. Even though the mansions fives off alot of energy, its not a proper protest. The ecoterrorists may give an effect off to the environment that could maybe kill or get people sick.
-Stephanie Alicea
In my opinion, i think that this is somewhat of a good idea.but they should also add "random street search". i think alot of weapons would be taken off the streets. teenagers wouldnt dare walk around with weapons if they knew that at any moment they can get caught and get in trouble. that would also decrease the amount of illegal drugs on the street. police are alwatys going after the teenagers but where do they get the drugs and weapons from????? they get it from older people who are the ones responsible for importing drugs and weapons.cops should try finding those houses. those are the houses that are causing iolence to spread. people go i and out of houses and the cops do not ave a clue as to whats going on inside those houses. police need to cretae new strategies. teeneagers and criminals already know how to play their game. kids these days kno how to beat the system. adults need to create new strategies that teenagers cant outsmart. i also hold parents responsible. parents these days allow children to walk all over them. parents dont check up on school work or anything. i can sy about a 90% of teenagers today do not have curfew. they get to do what they want want and they have this "im grown" mentality and think they can take over the world. yes i think that searching homes is a good idea, but in order for it to be successful adults have to take a stand. I blame the parents for anything that happens on the street. And I also blame the police worrying about traffic light tickets instead of paying more attention to violence on the streets.

I believe the Home Safe program is a bad idea because first of all who determines which youth are "high risk" youth? Who determines which youths get searched? I believe the Home Safe program will just worsen a prejudice that already exists. Also i believ the Home Safe program should attack the distributers of the weapons and not just the youth who are using the weapons. I believe this will only enrage youth and all whom are victims of invasion of privacy.
The Home Safe program should jus try an stop violence in greater ways for example fighting the source of the weapons and finding out who is putting guns on the street. They should further investigate and just try to stop those sellers instead of invading homes and stopping small acts of crime when they should look at the big picture.
>Luis Polanco<
"Safe Home" has to be the stupidest project the city has ever come up with. Its really pointless. Their going to take a gun from a teenager, then that teen is just going to go out and get another 1. Its stupid. not to mention that not every teen in Dorchester or Egleston Square owns a weapon or drugs. Alot of people that own guns are in fact 18 or older.
Even a State Senator is against "Safe Home".; State Senator dianne Wilkerson stated," And adults shame on you, calling the police on your children is like saying 'we cant figure them out, so you take them.'" This is true, tha parents should atleast know what their kids are getting into even if their kids don't talk to them that much. Actions speak louder then words.
Having the police come in and search your childs room is an invasion of privacy. Not to mention, at first the government said that they will only be able to enter will the parents consent. Now they say that if parents do not allow consent, that they can get a warrent just to search a room. You should need a warrent to search anything at all.

To me there are two points of veiw wiht the decision Boston Police Departments approach. There is a good point of veiw and then there is a point of veiw you look at that doesn't sound good at all. The fact that Boston Police are trying to reach out to at-risk teens is great. For the reason that most teenagers are immature and can get brainwashed very easily to something ignorant and that can have a major consequence. The invasion of one's personal space is what I am not funed of. Parents and youths including myself have their own opinions and it all attachs to the worry that the program is aimed at the wrong targets. I understand that Dorchester and the Roxbury area are the most dangerous but teenagers with guns doesn't only exist in the city.
Alexis
what i thought about the safe home program is that it not a bad idea. i think if you have nothing to worry about but you or your childrens safety then i think that thi program would make our community safe.
Eileen
I think that Juvernine are not the problem to today gund violence. In my Opinion I think that Mr.Jamarhl Crawford is right when he said that you can't go into a family home and try to fix the problem around Guns violence you need to talk to the "kids" about what going around in their neighborhoods.Because you would want parent to be senting their childrens jail.
****Abibatu Bayoh*******
I agree with the blog about Safe Homes. I believe that if this project ends up working, many neighborhoods would become so much safer. The neighborhoods that are being focused on do need help, but i think they should also focus on neighborhoods who's tragedies and deaths are greater.
my greatest concern is that they only visit h omes who's teens are and are not yet active with drugs and gangs. Teens are'nt the only ones carrying weapons. For this program to work they'll have to start at teens and work they're way up to adults who's influence led teens to this problem today.
From what i read in the article the boston police are only going to search like 4 parts of boston and those 4 parts are Geneva Bowdoin, Grove Hall, Egleston square, and different parts of Mattapan. Also as police search through the homes of these 4 towns police plan to go in the homes not by themselfs but with 2 other police officers. Now police say this is to protect the boston community and they are saying that they wont press charges and that they wont cause any problems with families but what if theyfind something in the home then what will they do because the police say they wont take the kids away put they will take the guns or the drungs that they find but the point here is what makes you think the kid cant get more weapons or more drugs. What i think is wrong with this is that the police are only searching 4 parts of Boston like if that is going to solve anything when there are alot more parts of Boston were people get shot and they still are not searching any other part of Boston.
-Ashley McCann
in the article i read about the community and guns said that some guy named crawford stood up for the community. Saying that the cops where lieing. Police where saiyng that they where going to search peoples homes for guns.

i think that photos that the photographer,Fenix does not exactly portray how the parts of Boston really looks like.i say this because it is true it only seems like she wanted to take the good parts of the city instead of the bad parts to show it really is.
I also think that she doesnt portray neighborhood correctly because in today in Boston neighborhood like downtown there is trash and and bums everywhere so thats why i think she did not take pictures of exactly the city the way i see it
interviewing black, latino and whites parents will give officials a greater idea on what goes wrong throughout their pregnancy. If blacks, latinos and whites have a greater statistics of the death of infants; they should be the people to ask on what they think causes the death of infants. they are the ones given the birth so they should know where they went wrong to cause such a tragic death to their infant.

I think that on the article police plan to search homes for guns gets cold reception from commuinty.
From thats i think that they should not beable to search homes for gunz ect. because it is invading privatcy but even if they find something they cant do nothing without a warrent. this is a example on how school police wanted to try the same thing but with parent permission to search home its just the way the police got (NO WHERE) Although they tryed to do this to reduce violence...
SAM BRACK
I think teenagers having guns are somewhat good but also bad. The good part is that if teenagers have a license to carry a gun, than then they can go out deer hunting. Teenagers can also defend thereselves from other "gang bangers".
The bad part is that young teenagers abuse having a gun and using it the correct way. The police are trying to start a program called " Operation Home Safe". This program allows the police to ask parents for permission to look inside the childs room for guns. So i disagree with the program
Michael Dennis
i think teens should only have a gun if they went the legal way to own it, which means a backgroundcheck and the opprpriate paper work like a FID. i have my FID i got it wen i was 16yrs old and you have to renew it every 5yrs. the FID is only for rifles. you need to be 21 to get a hand gun licence and its alot harder to get your hand gun licence than your rifle licence, i agree with this in good reason because a pstol is alot easier to conceal than a rifle
by tim walsh
Every year since 2000-2007 more than 13 people werte killed by a gunshot in Boston, and they were younger than 13 yrs old.
I think that the violence here in boston needs to stop because innocent children are getting killed for no reason and all the young kids shouldn't be allowed to have a gun because they're to immature
*Nicole Nelson*
Eco activism is good to a point. In this article activists turned terrorist. Radicals went to the extreme and burned down three luxury homes. I believe that this action was not justified because house cost alot of money especially luxury homes or mansions. Futhermore if you promote eco friendly things and then turn around and burn them, you are a hypocrite. If you are a eco activist stick to eco friendly solutions.
The photos of boston that i viewed were okay. They were okay to me because fenix the photographer, only took pictures of the common part of boston, and left out some other. For example boston is known for the schools and education. But when viewing the photos i didnt see a picture of any college around boston.
I also think that there should have been more photos of the people around boston and their everyday life, like shopping or riding the MBTA.
In the article I was reading the health officials do not exactly know why black babies are dying at in a greater rate then other races. But they think that it could be health issues like smoking, diebities and not enough vitamin D.
my opinion about babies dying under one year old is mayde women is stressing a lot and start doing bad things like smoking
Dianys mendez
every year since 2000-2007 more than 13 people were killed by a gunshot in boston, and they were younger than 25 years old
my opinion towards this violence that it is a very large amount of people that was shot. I think something should be done to make the shootings stop. i agree that that police needs to put a end to the youth violence in the inner city. i also agree with the police report that police should go in the houses and search for guns of teens.
In my opinion, i dont think what the police is doing is right. Police just wallking into peoples homes is insane. I dont think it is fair how they only goin to search the homes of people who live in the place were there is a higher percentage of Blacks and Latinos. If they are going to search peoples homes they should search them all over Boston to be fair.
I also read how parents call the cops on thier own kids. They would call the police if there kids are giving them a hard time following their rules. If the kids dont approve. they would do unneccesary things that lead up to trouble. my opinion on that is i feel that the parents should just talk and work with them themselves instead of bringing the police into it.

i think that all buses are safe because they put cameras up but it doesn't matter wher you go and were your'e at but there is always goig to be violence for instance on the 23 bus there were 3 incidents and the mbta only put up cameras and cameras don't really do anything or help i don't disagree with what they are saying but its like dorchester roxbury mattapan hyde park every where in boston there is violence the only path out or if uyou dont wann be involed anymore the only thing is to move example of something really sad a thirteen year old boy nmae steven odom got shot for no rerason just walking home to make his curfew and they say it was a mistake thats messed up boston is just crazy real talk im outta here brynasha cooper
ps. this is true not false
My opinion about the police searching homes is that the BPD should not send officers to search peoples houses for illegal weapons. There are many people who I agree with that say that it's wrong. All people don't smuggle illegal things so why should are homes be searched?
I also find it wrong that parents / guardians are calling the police on their children because they don't know what else to do with them. But over all this should not happen because it's invading people's personal space.
-nohemi carrasquillo
my opinion about this program "the safe home" i think is a really good idea because no under 18 teem should have a gum. i also think that it will save alot of lives beause no teem is mature enough to have a gum or to use it.the police deparment are doing teem and also adults because they preventing then from alot of stuff. so i think these was a bi step from the police deparment because these will help out comunitie.

THIS ARTICL EXPLAINS THAT THE BOSTON POLICE DEPARTMENT ARE GOING INTO THE HOMES OF TEENAGERS. THEY ARE LOOKING IN FORWARD TO FIND GUNS.THE IDEA OF THIS ALL IS TO MAKE THE 3 MAIN NEIBORHOODS SAFER SUCH AS dorchester, mattapan, roxbury.I agree with the police due to the fact i dont want to walk down the street and getting shot. I also dont want have people invade my privacy.
Cesar Gonzalez
i can't really take sides because of the following: i think it's great that the BPD is trying to take guns off the streets and prevent senceless Murder but i Also think it is an invasion of privacy to check the homes of people without even knowing if they have weapons.
-Luisa
In the articles i read it explains babies that are african american are at a risk of dying before the age of 1 or less than any other race. What I believe that should be done is that hospitals should not charge pregnant women to be healthy because some people dont have enough money and that may be the cause of there baby dyin. But I find it sad on how babies are dying and i believ its the hospitals fault.
well i was reading this article about how babys that die before they reach 1 year old. But to me that is saying that black babys are the most to die at a younger age.but the lations babys death was 2.9.but the black babys death was 13.2 per 1,00 live brith for black. but i have nothing eles to said about this article.

The Boston Police are trying to put in to power the " The Safe Home Program" since last fall and not has launched and it was brought up last fall. This program taget High-risk areas.
This is just another quick patch by the goverment to fix this. This is not one of those no quick solitions have ever worked in boston. This goes through it should be for the whole state not just cirtin areas.

one qusetion why does black infants dif two-and-a-half times more than white counterparts? people think that the babies that are infants don't really live because the mother may have alot on their minds or there maybe someone who took pills that they thought would help their pan. there were 13.2 deaths per 1,000 live birhts for blacks. the most recent data available, showed that black infants accounted for 29% of boston births 65% of all infants deaths. Vitamin D, 60% of black babies that die were born to women who are Vitamin D Deticient.
